"Paris is full of young ladies sporting massive necklaces"

Perusing The Sartorialist's delicious collection of images of delicious Parisian women looking, well, delicious I came across this image of Hilary Tsui, Stylist and wife of famous Hong Kong singer Eason Chan.

The piece was about the proliferation of the oversized statement necklace in Paris, and Hilary is an example of how to wear this trend with panache and the relaxed elegance that eludes most of the non-Parisian female population. The block of colour in the skirt and tights, simplicity of the grey marl sweater and neutral tan shoe and glasses create a perfectly balanced foil for the main event: the mammoth neckpiece.

The amazing breastplate that Hilary sports is by Holly Fulton, a dear friend, former Lanvin accessories designer, genius of printed fabric and impactful accessories and darling of any editor who knows her young london designers. Over the past couple of years having helped Holly with her collections I have enjoyed hands on access to the collection (and the gift of a piece here and there, thanks Holly!).

Here is a detailed illustration of Hillary's piece:

The tecno-accessory designer uses laser cut to produce the beautiful art deco inspired shapes in materials such as perspex, wood, ponyskin, eelskin, leather, studs and giant Swarovski crystals and any other baubles which takes her fancy, for SS12 it was shell. The result is a unique combination of tribal, art deco, punk and bling that is an outfit in itself.

Are you brave or Parisian enough to oversize it?
